AUT SPRINZ story
SPRINZ is based at AUT Millennium, which is committed to providing a world-class environment for high performance sports training, community sport, health and wellbeing and related research and education. AUT Millennium is also the home of High Performance Sport New Zealand.
Many of the SPRINZ postgraduate students are involved with sport and medical organisations based at AUT Millennium and carry out their research in the SPRINZ laboratories.
With industry, postgraduate students and AUT researchers all based within the same facility, the environment encourages the sharing of innovative ideas and thinking.
Enabling diversity in research
As AUT Millennium attracts a diverse sample of the community - including regional and national sport organisations, athletes and community, all training in the same place - AUT SPRINZ researchers have access to elite and semi-elite athletes, developmental athletes, as well as a wide range of gym users of all ages and abilities.
Strong industry links
Industry engagement is a strength for SPRINZ, with approximately 120 international collaborations in 25 countries and global partnerships in a number of countries including the US, Australia, UK, Malaysia and Germany. Within New Zealand, SPRINZ has over 60 collaborations.
